This past Saturday I had a birthday! Just “a” birthday. Nothing too special about 27, just getting closer to the big 3-0!
After my 22nd birthday I feel like birthdays are just another number being added to your age. All years prior to 22 symbolize or allow you to do something you couldn’t the year before, but after that it is just another number…
13 – YOU ARE FINALLY A TEENAGER
14 – You enter high school and can go to school and church dances
15 – Receive your driver’s permit – watch out!
16 – Able to drive on your own – really watch out!
17 – A senior in high school, making big life-altering decisions about your future
18 – Officially an adult; graduate high school and move onto college
19 – Last year in your teens
20 – In your twenties …
21 – The mission age when I was 21, big decisions ahead of you
22 – Graduate college!!
23 – … You are an adult
24 – … You are still an adult … and are just getting older at this point!
Geoff asked me Saturday if I felt older, my response was, “I am almost a mother of two, I feel old already!” Though 27 does not feel too different, I am excited to see what the next year will bring, especially if it is anything like 26!!
So what did we do to celebrate?! Everyone kept asking me that question! I do not like surprises. If anyone knows me they know I am a planner so surprises or not having/knowing the plan gives me more anxiety than brings excitement! Thus, I planned my day. When thinking about what I wanted to do on my birthday so many thoughts ran through my head… get a pedicure, go shopping, have lunch with friends, sleep all day, not change any diapers (which I didn’t thanks to Geoff!), etc. … but when I decided on exactly how I wanted to spend my day I couldn’t think of anything better than being with my two boys all day! Saturdays truly are my favorite, see post here, because our little family gets to be together all day. Why would I want to do anything other than that?!
We started the morning off with breakfast; no cooking for me all day!
After a delicious breakfast we had our family Christmas card photo shoot with the lovely Morgan Rupp, Pictures from the shoot coming soon! It definitely was quality family time even though my baby was a wild animal for the entire shoot. Praying we get one nice family picture!
After pictures it was Buckeye time and naptime for the little man! Saturday was the annual rival game between the Buckeyes and the team up north! Geoff and I cuddled up on the couch and watched the nail-biting game (and maybe took a little nap during halftime). What an awesome game and great birthday win!
After the game we spent the rest of the afternoon playing as a family. I really could not have asked for anything more. I received many calls, texts and messages from family and friends and felt so blessed all day!
Geoff and I ended the evening with a hot date of dinner and a movie. I am so thankful for my husband and the man that he is. I am thankful for my wonderful, little, growing family.
Here is to 27 years and hoping this coming year is as great as the last!!
