On our last night visiting my parents we decided to head up to their community’s new recreation center that my parents had been raving about all week. Each community rec center has a theme and their center’s theme is military recognition, specifically named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Residents of The Villages community and surrounding areas donated military memorabilia, badges they have been awarded, letters they received and so much more to create this amazing center for people to view and enjoy.
We headed to the center right before Taden’s bedtime but he definitely caught his second wind!! There were many great rooms where you could hold a dinner party or reception and he took full advantage of the space by running around screaming just to hear the echo of his voice. Luckily there were few people walking around.
^^I wish this picture wasn’t blurry (one day I will have this new lens figured out!). This is literally what he was doing the entire time we were in the building – running and screaming!
^^One of the few moments he stopped to catch his breathe!
^^President Eisenhower
^^The details of every piece in this building were so beautiful. Look at the floor in one of the great rooms (below). The hardwood was gorgeous all throughout!
^^Finally took a break from running through the building to let his dad hold him. Literally he had sweat dripping down his face!
^^His dad teaching him to play ‘hide and seek.’ At least he was not running or yelling…
We enjoyed our little tour through our country’s military history. The community did a great job putting together such a wonderful collection to showcase all those that have served have sacrificed for our freedoms we enjoy each day. I am grateful we were able to visit the center and look forward to going back again.
… and I was also grateful for the opportunity Taden had to expound ALL his energy right before bedtime! He was out when we arrived home and slept wonderfully all night long!
