My parents live in the cutest little city! Their house sits on one of the largest golf retirement communities in the country (and maybe even the world). The demographics, as you can guess, is a bunch of elderly people and then young, little people (a.k.a. grandkids!). My parents house is not far from a fire station and to get most anywhere you have to drive past it. While we were visiting them two weeks ago, I kept wondering if the station would mind us stopping by to let Tate check out a REAL fire engine. I knew he would freak out and totally love it!!
One afternoon as we were heading up to the pool, we decided to stop by. Just as we were pulling in the parking lot, we spotted a fire engine hanging outside of the station. Perfect!! We took Tate up to the engine and walked around it, while we kept exclaiming, “fire truck! TRUCK!!”
As we were walking around outside, a nice fireman came out and told us we were more than welcome to come into the station and check out more of the trucks, and even sit inside a fire engine if we wanted to. Seriously?! Of course!!
From there the fireman let Tate sit inside a fire engine, check out all the gear inside, climb into an antique, convertible engine, AND he even took Geoff and Tate for a ride. All while letting his wild mama snap pictures like a crazy person. See evidence below:
It was incredibly nice of the fireman and totally made all our days’. They invited us back whenever we wanted to return (which will for sure be every trip). It made me wonder if all fire stations would welcome little visitors?! Only one way to find out…
