It is so true! Cousins really do make the best of friends. I have a cousin who is exactly one month younger than me. Growing up her and I were totally best friends! Our families lived 3 hours from one another and approximately every other month our families would get together and every time it seemed like no time had passed since we had last seen each other. We wouldn’t even skip a beat! Though we both lived totally separate lives it never felt like it. We would stay up late talking for hours and hours about our “best friends” back home or the boys we liked or the newest songs we were listening to. I loved having a cousin so close in age and I am so grateful that my children have the same blessings.
This past weekend we headed down to NC to visit Geoff’s sisters family for the long weekend. Geoff’s brothers family from Florida and Dad and sister in Ohio all made the trip as well. It was a wonderful reunion weekend spent eating too much food, laughing so much and chasing kids around everywhere, see part I of the recap here and if you are interested, check out my road trip recap here.
^^Geoff’s sister purchased a small plastic pool for the kids to play in. Best investment ever!! The kids spent most of the weekend in to either cool off from the hot sun or just to splash around.
^^Brothers hanging out – classic male picture.
^^I just love little Josie’s spunky personality!
^^We arrived just in time Thursday evening to attend a local Bluegrass festival where Geoff’s Dad, sister and sweet niece Emma sang in. So much talent in this family! Check out Geoff’s sisters latest song here.
^^Miss Livi running right before she almost took a nose-dive that was saved by her Dad! Maddie and Livi are 17 months apart. I cannot wait to see their sweet relationship form in the years to come.
^^Their family’s renting a large home in a beautiful wooded community. They live on a 2-acre lot that includes a small stream, pond, sandpit with Tonka trucks galore and a fire pit. The kids had so much fun exploring all weekend and getting dirty!
^^I brought pretzel rods, melting chocolates and sprinkles to help entertain the kids for an afternoon. I would call it an overall success…
^^We celebrated many birthdays, including this little man’s 2nd!! Happy Birthday Ben!
^^So, this picture didn’t turn out quite like this one. I guess we were asking for too much thinking we would get smiles two days in a row. Right? Right. Good memories right here!
I cannot wait to watch all these kids grow up and grow up together. Cousins are the best and where life-long friendships can be made. Thanks for being wonderful hosts and letting us all create such wonderful memories in your home!
