For Christmas my aunt (the same we visited the previous weekend – see here) purchased Tate a cute series of books called Ellis the Elephant. The series includes three books that illustrate American history from the American Revolution to the birth of our great nation and other pivotal moments that have shaped our nation’s history and character. The books take you on a guided tour with your friend “Ellis” as she adventures through story after story on where our country has been and how it has made us who we are today. The books have great illustrations that are bright and wonderfully animated.

The books are nice hardback books and so we do not pull them down from our shelves often (little hands don’t always make for soft hands). For the past couple of days, though, I have pulled these books out as we prepare for the 4th of July. It has been fun teaching Tate a little more about our country and re-learning the stories again for myself. These pictures were just too cute not to share. Enjoy… or carry on.

What are you doing to prepare for the 4th of July, the day to celebrate our nation’s independence?
